Catering a Themed Party

Posted on

We’ve got some ideas this week on how to step it up a notch when hosting a themed shindig, matching your food to your party’s main idea.

Bollywood Party

Throw an Indian feast! Chaat is the name for Indian appetizer/snack foods which will have your guests in the mood to dance the night away. Check out this link to Patrina Verma Sarkar’s post about Bollywood Parties at About.com

Hawaaiian Party

At a Luau you simply must involve pineapple in everything, poke tiny cocktail umbrellas into anything edible, fire up the grill and barbeque some ham steaks. Check out some more recipes on Pinterest.

70s Party

This decade boasted some truly interesting/hilarious party food that will certainly have guests taking a trip down memory lane. Jello featured heavily during this era, as did ‘loaves’ of various kinds. Here’s some ideas from Bon Appetit.

Cartoon Theme Parties
Find a cartoon of your choice, and make the food they typically eat in the show. For example, in Spongebob Squarepants the characters eat burgers at the Krusty Krab, and on the Simpsons, Homer eats pink donuts. If the cartoon doesn’t have a signature food item, you can always stick with a related color scheme and make sure the birthday cake is themed.

If you liked these ideas, keep your eyes peeled because in the next few weeks we’ll be featuring a blog post specifically on themed Baby Showers!
