Pairing Wine with Everyday Food

Posted on

You don’t have to be eating a fancy meal to warrant wine-pairing, because no matter what you’re eating, there’s a wine for the occasion. The truth is, the more you know about making the perfect match, the better your meal will taste.

On those days you’re looking forward to pizza or burgers, don’t reach for the beer just yet – chardonnay might be exactly what sets off your meal. Sometimes all you want for dinner is some sweet, sour and salty Asian cuisine – try pairing this with some Sauvignon Blanc. Acidic wines go well with foods that are fatty and sweet, helping to balance things out.

A nice, strong red wine like Zinfandel, Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon always sets taste buds alight when served with hearty red meat dishes. Did you know these big red wines also taste great with hard cheeses?

For the lovers of sparkling wines, a bubbly pink Moscato will not only go well with your dessert but weirdly enough, will taste delicious with Mac ‘n Cheese. The reason for this is as mentioned above – it’s acidic enough to handle your cheesy cravings.

So, go ahead and pair some wine with your dinner – and eat that pizza like a king.
