How to Stir Fry Vegetables

Posted on

Stir frying vegetables seems simple enough, but getting them right can be a frustrating endeavor. If you’re tired of serving lacklustre stir fry, here are a few tips that will help improve your wok skills.

  • Give them space
The golden rule of making perfect stir fried vegetables is learning not to crowd the pan. Leaving space for the vegetables to move will ensure that they cook evenly.

  • Keep the pan hot
Stay close by and make your wok piping hot before putting in the vegetables. Stir frying happens fast, especially when you’re dealing with thin, fragile greens like bok choy.

  • Prep first
Cut all of the veggies, have all the seasonings and oils at the ready – the most important part is about to happen! Make sure you dry the vegetables as much as possible before throwing them in the pan.

  • Don’t delay!
Serve and eat stir fried vegetables immediately. When they sit for too long they tend to get soggy and taste stale.
