International Day of Charity

Posted on

Tuesday September 5th was the International Day of Charity, and as we’d all agree, a relevant cause in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, and the impending arrival of Irma. You might be wondering how to help those affected, especially if you live in the Bay Area like us. Being a catering company, we’d obviously love to help feed the masses, but that can be difficult from a distance. In the spirit of the International Day of Charity, here are three major ways you can help those affected in the South:

  1. Give Money to Food Banks
Instead of physical food donations, you can give funds directly to the food bank. Alternatively, if you know someone in South Texas, transfer money via Venmo or your bank, and ask them to buy food to donate on your behalf.

  2. Texas Diaper Bank
People with young children can’t do without diapers, and your donations will help a family be able to function just that bit more regularly. You can give by mailing diapers to 5415 Bandera Rd., Suite 504, San Antonio, TX 78238. Alternatively, you can buy them on Amazon and send them directly to the given address.

  3. Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund
The Mayor of Houston has set up an all-encompassing fund for relief, with information of what needs money and assistance. If you’re unsure about how to help, try this website.

At Catering Central we are dedicated to responsible ways to use leftovers and helping those in need. We hope that your friends and relatives who may be affected by the storms and floods are safe, and experiencing kindness of those around them.
