Kung Pao Chicken Recipe

Posted on

This month on our blog, we’re sharing a few recipes of our signature Asian-American dishes. (Click here for Tuesday’s Chow Mein recipe!) Today we are highlighting Chinese Kung Pao Chicken; a beloved meal for all who enjoy Asian-inspired cuisine.

Chinese Kung Pao Chicken

  • Chicken Thigh Meat
  • Eggs
  • Corn Starch
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Canola Oil
  • Dry Chilies de Arbol, or Chinese Chili
  • Bell Pepper
  • Yellow Onion
  • Peanuts
  • Chicken Stock
  • Chili Paste or Fermented Bean and Chili Paste
  • Dark Soy Sauce and Regular Soy Sauce Mix – 10/90

  1. Clean and cut chicken thighs into cubes. Marinate in whole beaten eggs, cornstarch and salt. Par Fry in canola oil – blanch chicken only (don’t let it take color).
  2. Prep bell peppers and onions by cutting them into cubes.
  3. Use canola oil to fry chillies, and add bean/chili paste, as well as the chicken stock and soy mix.
  4. Next, add pre-cooked chicken and peanuts, sauteeing the mixture until it’s almost dry. Try not to leave any liquid, as this will negatively affect the flavor.
  5. To finalize the dish, add salt/pepper to taste, and sesame oil as seasoning.
