Chicken Breast 5 Ways

Posted on

Chicken breast is quite literally the food of champions – with most athletes and bodybuilders consuming chicken breast as their lean protein of choice. At 124 calories per 4oz serve with zero carbs, chicken breast boasts less than 2g of fat, 288g of potassium, 12g of calcium, and a whopping 26g of protein. Another giant advantage of chicken breast is that it is so versatile, making it easy to consume new and tasty meals every day. Here are five ways to prepare yours:

  • Pesto
It’s as simple as pan frying some chicken and adding a couple of dollops of pesto at the end. Keep in mind that you’re adding extra oil, which can be great served with sweet potato where vitamin A is absorbed better with some fat.
  • Herbs and Spices
What do you have in your spice rack? Sprinkle a bit of this and a bit of that on the chicken breast as it cooks, along with salt and pepper. Onion and garlic powder work really well here.
  • Marinara
If you’ve cut pasta from your diet and you’re missing some good old fashioned red sauce, slather some on your chicken breast.
  • Salsa Chicken
Check out this recipe from All Recipes.
  • Marinated
Whether it’s honey soy, teriyaki, BBQ, or spicy buffalo sauce – marinating chicken in a ziplock bag overnight will pack your protein with a flavorful punch.

Alternative Diets and Socializing

One of the main problems with having an alternative diet is the feeling of being left out at social gatherings where more conventional food is on offer. Whether your diet is for weight loss, fitness, intolerances, sensitivities, or allergies – the fact is you are unable to eat a lot of the foods on offer at most parties, and you may feel uncomfortable drawing attention to the fact. Catering Central understands the struggle, and we are devoted to making sure everyone at our events will have food they can eat – and enjoy.

We offer vegetarian, vegan, allergen-friendly, dairy free, and low carb options – and will work with requests for other dietary needs. Not only will we provide a meal that won’t break your diet or leave your guests hungry, we make alternative meals that actually taste good. This means that vegetarians will have meatless protein available, and never need to leave the event unsatisfied.

If you are planning for private party catering in Sunnyvale (94085), corporate catering in Palo Alto (94301), wedding catering in Mountain View (94035) – or anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area – contact us on (650) 961-3300. Quick Weeknight Meals

By combining decent quality store bought items with homemade sides (or vice versa) you are cutting your nightly dinner prep time in half. For those days when you don’t want to spend an hour making dinner, try these mealtime hacks.

  1. Meatballs or Steak Pie with Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes are a cinch when they are the only item you need to prepare – easier still if you buy pre-made frozen mash. They’re also a hearty side for Swedish meatballs from Ikea, or a tavern inspired pie from Trader Joe’s.
  2. Fresh stir fry with frozen vegetables
Sautee your protein, add your pack of pre-cut, snap-frozen veggies, squirt on some sauce – and voila! All you need now is to throw some rice in the rice cooker. Done.
  1. Pre-marinated fish
Trader Joe’s has some excellent pre-marinated fish, with the absolute winner being Mojito Salmon. While you’re in the frozen aisle at TJ’s, check out what kinds of rice or quinoa sides are available.
  2. Pasta, pasta, pasta
Mac and Cheese, marinara sauce, pesto with parmesan… the list goes on. For an unassumingly delicious meal, look no further than pasta. Keep some pasta and sauces in your pantry for a low-key, fast dinner.

The more homemade dinner hacks you collect, the less you’ll be eating out. Dinner at home promotes connection with others, not to mention the benefits for your wallet and waistline.
