Survey Monkey “Favorite Foods” Menu

Posted on

Our good friends at SurveyMonkey decided to curate a small recipe book of foods that their employees have enjoyed from across the globe. We decided to give it a go and for the company’s first lunch of the New Year (2017) we served them a customized menu using their ideas at the new office building in San Mateo, California. Thanks again to Zander Lurie, Tim Mally, Kelly Brehmer, Terry McCarthy, Rebecca Cantieri, Megan Kavanaugh, Greg Nguyen, and Janine Yalun for the support that fostered a wonderful relationship that started back in 2014.

If you’re looking for a flexible, customizable menu, call us today at Catering Central on (650) 961-3300. Summertime Salads

Posted on

Summer is a great time to get creative with your salads. If you’re lacking inspiration, think about the incredible selection available at local health food stores with salad bars, like you’d see at Whole Foods. Anything and everything you can put on a salad is right there, giving you a wide range of options for a salad perfectly customized to your mood.

If the salad is your meal, go heavy on the protein. Nuts, seeds, tofu, cheese and meat are delicious ways to keep you going for hours. Shying away from carbs might be better for your waistline, but it may cause you to be hungry soon after you eat. Try adding some complex carbs like quinoa, rye bread croutons or pita bread to your plate.

Dark, leafy greens are undoubtedly amazing for your health. Packing a punch of iron, calcium and fiber (to name a few) – kale and spinach are a smart choice for a salad base. Don’t underestimate Romaine lettuce just because it looks like it’s nutritionally void counterpart Iceberg lettuce. Romaine is a great source of chromium, which is a natural helper in the balancing of blood sugar.

Lastly – take risks! If you’ve never added berries, mango or dried fruits to your salad – today is the day. If you’ve only ever used one kind of dressing, try another variety. You’ll never know what works unless you try something new.

We have added our California Salad menu – a hit with companies who want to provide a healthy, yet fortified, lunch salad meal. Take a look!

Where do I start? : How to Inquire About Catering Services

Posted on

Does your company want to host a catered event… but you have no idea where to start planning? Take a deep breath – we’ve got this one covered! It may seem strange to have a precursor to planning, but trust us, there’s an art to the start.

Write down the answers to these questions;
(1) How many people will be at your event?
(2) Are you looking to have a “food drop-off” service, appetizers, a hot buffet or a full-service event?
(3) How much are you willing to spend?
(4) Will you need party supplies, like tablecloths, linens or chairs?
(5) Will you need servers for the event?

Once you have those questions covered, it’s time to think about what’s on the menu. Our corporate menus are designed as a complete meal, which consists of; a salad, an entrée and a side. Depending on the size of your company, you have a few options available, according to your company’s dietary needs or individual preferences.

Obviously your menu choices will depend on your budget, and the size of your group. This is why it is really important to have an idea of how much you are willing to spend before you talk to the catering company. On the topic, keep in mind that the caterers will not be able to give you a quote over the phone because they’ll need some time to make a menu and calculate the costs.

Catering Central provides catering services for big and small budgets alike – with menus from all across the world, as well as new American cuisine. Whether you’re looking to cut down on the carbs, wanting high quality, fresh salads or you’re searching for vegetarian options, we have solutions for your next company event.

So, with all this in mind (and on paper) – pick up the phone and give us a call!
