Seasonal Salads

Posted on

Since we explored the fresh local produce of Spring last week, this week we will be thinking about some ways to make your daily salad seasonal. By adding a few of these ingredients to your bowl or plate, you’ll be making the best of what Mother Nature provides at its most delicious time.

  • Peas
Who doesn’t love the ‘pop’ of a fresh pea in their salad? Whether it’s sugar snap, english or snow peas, these fresh green orbs don’t only taste great, but also help protect you from stomach cancer, help prevent Alzheimer’s, and assist in weight management.

  • Baby Carrots
You might think of these as a year-round snack, but boy do they taste better when they’re in season! Dip them in hummus, ranch, or spinach dip for an afternoon snack.

  • Edible Flowers
You may never have eaten flowers before, but edible ones like nasturtiums aren’t only beautiful, but they pack a nutritional punch too. Forage for them where you know they’re safe (and double check they’re definitely nasturtiums) or find them at your local farmer’s market.

Here at Catering Central, we love making food taste great. We’d be happy to hear about the vision you have for your party, and work with you to make it happen. We do Private Party catering in the San Francisco Bay Area, Corporate Catering in Silicon Valley, and events all the way from Mountain View to San Francisco. Hawaiian Heavy Appetizer Menu

Posted on

If you can’t take a getaway vacation to Hawaii, why not let us bring Hawaii to you? While we can’t provide the sun and sand, we can set your event up with some ridiculously delicious food. More of a “heavy appetizer” menu, rather than a solid meal, our Hawaiian menu showcases island food at its best.

Starting with pineapple pico de gallo and chips, we’ll take your taste buds on a journey with an irresistibly sweet/salty combination of pineapple wrapped in bacon. A simple salad serves as a perfectly balanced side to your choice of succulent pulled pork, or sweet and spicy teriyaki skewers (chicken or beef). With the addition of island fried rice, and grilled summer vegetables, your Hawaiian meal is complete!

Interested in trying this menu for your next event? At Catering Central, we highly value food as a means of connection with others, and aim to give all of our clients a positive and satisfying experience with our services. If you’re looking for corporate catering in the San Francisco Bay (94111), private party catering in Sunnyvale (94086), or general catering in Mountain View (94040) – call us today on (650) 961-3300!

5 Fall Inspired Brunch Ideas

Posted on

There’s nothing quite like homemade brunch with loved ones on a crisp fall morning. Whether you’re enjoying something sweet or savory, brunch has a way of bringing people together. We have collected five tasty recipes for you to try, sampling the flavors of fall.

  1. Butternut Squash Breakfast Risotto with Fried Egg and Bacon by Inspiralized
Transform the way you think of risotto, by “ricing” butternut squash. This breakfast is super low-carb, packed full of nutrients, and bursting with flavor.

  2. Gingerbread Pancakes – by
Spicy, warm, and best with a generous serving of maple syrup, gingerbread pancakes are one of the easiest ways to feed a large group at brunch – while still packing the “wow” factor. Top with pears, apples, and a sprinkling of pumpkin spice.

  3. PSL Scones – by
Try these beside a fresh cup of coffee! Picking up notes of pumpkin and coffee, PSL scones can be a brunch in and of themselves, or part of a continental spread.

  4. Fall Vegetable Tart with Fresh Herbs – by Better Homes and Gardens
For something different, try a French-Inspired veggie tart. Savory, fresh, and celebrating the produce of fall, this tart is an impressive-looking crowd pleaser.

  5. Challah French Toast Casserole
Make this one overnight, and slide it in the oven in the morning! This casserole will satisfy the sweet tooth, so be sure to serve it with a cup of coffee.

You can enjoy all foods in moderation, as long as they’re part of a balanced diet. At Catering Central, we highly value food as a means of connection with others, and aim to give all of our clients a positive and satisfying experience with our services. Healthy Soup at Home

Posted on

While opening a can of soup is easy, there’s always something “canned” about the flavor. It’s also widely known that canned soup has an exorbitant sodium content – but did you know all that salt is keeping the soup from spoiling? Homemade soup can be as salty or plain as you make it, giving you a delicious meal without compromising your health. Also, if there’s too much – great! Freeze in individual portions for that ‘heat and serve’ convenience you’re looking for.

Here are three soups we make at Catering Central, that you can replicate at home:

  1. Butternut Squash
Simply roast and puree, add chicken broth, mirepoix, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  2. Bean Soup
Any 2-3 types of beans you desire, mixed with broth, seasonings, and a leafy green (e.g. kale, spinach etc.) will produce a delicious bowl of healthy, wholesome soup.
  3. Hearty Minestrone
Tomato, broth, diced vegetables, and pasta – a recipe for a filling, nutritious meal.

At Catering Central we highly value health and whole foods. We believe food plays a vital role in not only physical, but emotional health. Our social lives strengthen by building relationships over food, leading to a greater level of connectedness with the world around us. If you’re interested in having your next San Francisco Bay Area (94110, 94024) private or corporate event catered by a company working from this philosophy, call us today on (650) 961-3300. We can’t wait for your call!
